CAMPAIGN 2016
INTRODUCTION
IT'S CLEAR ON TOP AND THE RIDE IS SMOOTh
Dear Property Owner:
With the runway and several access areas in crisis yet again, the Board of Directors is pleased to present you with an opportunity to stop this pattern for good. We have developed a plan to return our airport to a prosperous, sustainable facility, one that will represent a true community asset and continue as such into the foreseeable future. Our proposal merely applies the airport’s original governing structure to all airport properties as the airport’s founder intended. That system has guided thousands of successful developments for decades.
During the past year, we reconstructed the airport’s development timeline in detail. As history unfolded, a confusing jumble steadily transformed into a clear picture. The facts we uncovered revealed the fundamental issues that had to be addressed: easements v. licenses; representative v. dictatorial governance. The enclosed FAQ will address these issues in more detail.
We shared our findings in five public meetings with over 70% of you attending. We engaged dozens of owners both individually and in small groups to get your thoughts and perspectives. We consulted numerous legal experts to ensure that our proposal served the needs of the property owners while remaining consistent with Texas law. Armed with your input and a complete picture of both the historical and legal landscape, we developed a plan.
We urge you to support our proposal. Let’s end a 33-year pattern of crisis and conflict. We will start by replacing the runway, the most important feature of any airport. With your support, we can ensure a prosperous future.
Sincerely,
Mitchell R. Whatley
